Columbia Football Booster Club

2011-12 Philosophy

Columbia Football is an interscholastic football program that successfully competes in AA Section II football.  Levels of play include Varsity, Junior Varsity, Freshman and Modified.  East Greenbush Pop Warner serves as a youth feeder program to the interscholastic program. However, it is not required that a player participate in Pop Warner to play Columbia Football.  Many great athletes started their careers later in life.

The Coaches in the Columbia Football program are lead by Head Coach Craig Cavotta.  The Coaches are professionally certified and trained.  Coaches use positive reinforcement to achieve desired results.

The Players in the Columbia Football program are enrolled in the East Greenbush Schools grades 7-12.  The Players recognize the AA Section II football is one of the most competitive high school programs in New York State, and that in order to achieve the desired results that they must make a commitment to the program.

 The commitment includes:

Participation in the prescribed weight-training program on a scheduled basis, including summer and off-season.

Maintaining a healthy diet

Attending all practices

Learning all plays

Playing as a team member

Displaying a good attitude

Achieving academic success

Accepting the responsibility of representing Columbia both in and out of uniform.

The Booster Club in Columbia Football accepts the role of supporting the program, players and coaches in the Columbia Football program.  Members of the Booster Club agree to work on programs that support the program, attend home and away games, and exhibit a good attitude regarding the game, and the coaches.  Booster Club members recognize that criticism of the players and or the coaches is a destructive behavior and agree to refrain from doing so. The Booster Club has a 501c3 non profit arm, Friends of the Blue Gridiron to handle donations and fund raising.

The Football Program thanks the Board of Education, EGCSD Administration, Teachers and Students, Local Businesses, Sponsors and the Community for supporting our players and program, and hopes that they will follow the teams and attend as many games as possible.
