Columbia Football, Week 7

Week 7 has all 4 football teams hunting for another win.

Freshman travel to Schenectady on Wednesday, 4 pm.  JV challenge Shaker on Thursday, 6 pm at Shaker.  Modifiedare home on Saturday at 9 am.

Varsity will host Shaker on Friday night for the final game regular season game of 2009. 

 Friday night, 10-16 is Senior night. 

Senior football players will be honored before the game. 

Help is needed in the concession stand and with sportswear on Friday night.

  See you at the field!

Senior Night: Friday October 16

Senior Football Players will be honored on Friday night, October 16, at 6:45.  Parents and guaridans of Columbia’s 21 senior players will join their son’s on the field for this honor. Seniors will wear their home blue jersey, so please wear your son’s white jersey.  Parents should download the sneior info form and return to Coach Romanowski.

Columbia Football, Week 6 Homecoming Week

Columbia Football

Week 6 is Homecoming Week at Columbia!  Join the exciting activities at Columbia.

Freshman meet the Burnt Hills Freshman at home on Wednesday, 6:30 pm.  Help is needed in the concession stand from JV and Varsity Parents.

Modified is away at Lisha Kill, (South Colonie) on Friday, 4 pm.

Varsity team meal, Thursday, 5 pm.

Varsity faces Schenectady on Friday night in the homecoming gameHelp is needed in the concession stand  and with sportswear from JV , Freshman and Modified Parents. This is the busiest night of the year, and normally the booster club earns a lot of money to support our programs on this night.

JV has their second team meal on Friday Night, at 6 pm, they will play in Schenectady on Saturday at 10 am.

So far this year there has been a ton of support and help from the football families at all levels, and the impact of this help is felt thought the program.  Thank you for stepping up and making Columbia Football a successful program!

EG Pop Warner Featured at Varsity Game

East Greenbush, October 2, 2009

Columbia Varsity Football entered Budnowski Field through a tunnel created by Columbia Varsity Football Cheerleaderswho were joined on the field by the Cheerleaders from East Greenbush Pop Warner.  The Cheerleaders extended accross the field.  Groups of cheerleaders joined the varsity cheering during the game. Columbia fans were treated to ” The Big Cheer” at halftime featuring all the Pop Warner Cheer Teams, followed by halftime flag football games under the lights.

Special thanks to Pop Warner and all who made this special event possible, especially Christine Kawczak, Columbia Varsity Cheerleading Coach.

Columbia Football Welcomed EGTA Teacher of the Year, Lisa Westman

Lisa Westman,  2009 EGTA Teacher of the Year

Columbia Football was honored to welcome the members of the East Greenbush Teachers Association, and in particular the Teacher of the year Lisa Westman. Miss Westman joined the Columbia Captains on the field as an honorary captain in recognition of being teacher of the year.

Miss Westman is a graduate of Columbia High School.  While attending Columbia, Miss Westman played the bass drum at pep rallies and at home games.  Reflecting on her time at Columbia Miss Westman says: “ I had the opportunity to strike the bass drum with all my enthusiasm at the Pep Rallies and home games and I have fond memories of those times, especially the game when Columbia Football beat Shen Football.

After graduating from Columbia, Miss Westman attended Saint Rose for both undergraduate and graduate degrees, earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in music and a concentration in mathematics, in 1989 and in 1996,  earning a Master of Science in Education in the area of Special Education with a concentration in Learning Disabilities.

After being substitute teacher for the East Greenbush Central Schools for many years, Miss Westman joined the wonderful staff at Donald P. Sutherland, where she has taught for 12 years. Miss Westman currently teaches 3rd grade. Miss Westman was nominated for the Teacher of the Year by members of the EGTA, and is truly honored to be part of this wonderful school district!

Miss Westman was honored to be at the varsity game, and would like to thank you Columbia Football  for this amazing honor.

Columbia Wrestling ATV Raffle
