Week 8 produced mixed results for the Columbia Football Program. Varsity, JV and Freshmen all fell, and Modified recorded another win.
The JV lost to Shen in the JV superbowl. JV played a great season and has much to be proud of.
Week 9 has three teams in their final game:
Wednesday, October 27, Freshmen travels to Queensbury for a 4:15 game.
Thursday, October 28, Modified travels to Mohonasen for a 4:15 game.
Varsity will play Albany. The date and time have not been determine.
Players should return equipment to their coaches following the schedule that each coach has announced. Also each player has received an envelope with 3 raffles tickets to Top Form. Please either sell or purchase the 3 tickets, $2 each, 3 for $5.
Monday, November 1, Columbia Annual Banquet 6 PM. Winner of the Top Form Raffle chosen.
Thursday, October 21, JV travels to Shen to face the Plainsmen in the Class AA JV SuperBowl
Friday, October 22, Varsity travels to Bethlehem to face the Eagles in a Class AA crossover.
Week 5 rolls in with all teams seeing action.

Thursday, September 30: Modified Columbia Gold Card Fund Raiser ends. All monies and unsold cards need to be returned to Coach Merhige.
Thursday, September 30: Modified travels to Saratoga for a 4:15 game.
Friday, October 1: Varsity travels to Schenectady. Kick off is at 7 pm.
Saturday, October 2: JV hosts Schenectady JV. Kick off is at 10 am.

Mark your calendar: Columbia Football: Greening the Greenbushes, for some Green, will be held on October 16 and 17. Start gathering your metal now, for a free and easy disposal, and to earn some cash for the program.

Week 4 is in the books. Varsity fell to the state ranked Troy High Team. JV inproved their record, beating Troy JV 21-7, Freshmen beat a very good Burnt Hills team, 38-35 and Modified won their first home opener 36-6.
Jean Decker, EGTA teacher of the year was honored at the Varsity game, and the EGPW cheerleaders and Flag Football Players were the highlight of the night. The stands were packed for the game.
Thank you to Columbia Football families for making Week 4 a success! From the CHS-EGPW clinic, to the team meals for Varsity and JV, to the support in the concession stand for 4 events in one week, to the chain gang, announcers, sellers of football items and of course attending the games, the EG community is behind the players and the coaches and keeps the team strong.

The Modified season will begin Wednesday 9/1 at 4pm at Columbia HS. Players are to meet Coach Merhige by the front gate at Budnowski Field at 4pm. Players will go to the equipment room to get sized for equipment and then return to the field (at the conclusion of the FROSH scrimmage) to begin practice with athletic testing and practice #1. Practice will be finished by 6:15pm on the turf field.
Players need to bring water, cleats AND sneakers, and a big gym bag to keep their equipment in after it has been issued.
Practice #2 will be on Thurday at Goff Middle School from 4-6pm.
The time and location of Practice #3 for Friday 9/3 will be given to the players on Thursday 9/2 due to Coach Merhige’s wedding on Saturday 9/4.
