Dear Friend of Columbia Football;
The High School football season is here, and we have been working hard at practice. The Columbia Football teams: Varsity, Junior Varsity, Freshman and Modified are ready to win.
Football is a very complicated sport, which requires a great deal of support in the form of time, talent and money. The players, coaches and parents are providing the time and the talent, as well as most of the money to run the program. The East Greenbush Central School District also provides support at a significant level.
However, in order to be competitive at the Class AA level in Section II football, the Columbia Teams needs to work hard, and to have access to a fully outfitted weight room. They need equipment that will keep them safe. They also need funds to supplement the number of uniforms that are required to outfit a team of almost 250 players from grades 7-12.
In addition, funding is needed for certified trainings for coaches and volunteers, as well as recording and communication equipment. There is always something needed by the players. The players themselves with the help of their parents will raise about $20,000 to supplement the district support of the program. In addition, money will be earned by of our excellent concession stand at all the home games.
The Columbia Football Booster club dedicates all of the funds raised to the program. None of the officers receive a salary or benefit, other than being involved with one of the most exciting programs in the Capital District.
