Week 6 update

Week 6 is over. Our teams meet with mixed results.  JV and Modified won, Varsity and Freshmen lost.  Thank you to all the parents, family and friends who supported all the teams, over this past week.  Your support directly helps the players in the program.

Week 6: Homecoming, Senior Night

Homecoming week is here.  This is a busy week for Columbia with 3 home games, and all the homecoming activities.  Also, for our seniors, we will honor our seniors and their accomplishments at the homecoming game on Friday night.  Senior parents should be at the field no later than 6:25.  All seniors have complete bio sheets and had their photos taken for our Columbia Football Senior Profile Sheet.  The booklet will be published later this week.

Tuesday, October 5:  Modified hosts Shaker at a 4:15 game.  Help will be needed with the chains and in concession.

Wednesday, October 6: Freshmen host Saratoga at a 6 pm game.  Help is needed with the chains and in concession.

Thursday, October 7: Varsity team meal.

Friday, October 8: JV Team Meal at the field

Friday, October 8: Senior Recognition before the game.  All senior families must be at the field by 6:25

Friday, October 8:  Home Coming Football Game, Varsity hosts Shaker at a 7 pm game

Help is needed in concession, selling 50-50 at the gate, selling speciality items, and cheering on the team.  Mark you calendar to attend this event.

Saturday, October 9:  JV travels to Shaker for a 10 am game.

Call for photos:  Friends of the Blue Gridiron – Columbia Football is the name of our nonprofit arm.  We also are a group on facebook.  Please join the group and have your family join too.  We are looking for photos of players, coaches, cheerleaders and fans at our games.  Please post any great shots that you have.

 Fund Raising update:  Tickets are still available for the Top Form Raffle, $2 each or 3 for $5 give you an opportunity to win a 3 month membership at the premier training facility in the area.

Columbia Football – Greening the Greenbushes – for some Green will be held on the weekend of October 16 and 17. Save any scrap metal, and have your friends save items too.  This is a easy way to get ride of the metal junk, and make some money for the program.  Our players will be working the event, and earn valueable community service credit besides helping their community, and earn money for the program.

 

 

 

 

Week 5 Recap

October 3rd, 2010 Booster Club Comments off

Week 5 is over.  Varsity lost a close game at Schenectady 13-10; Columbia JV beat Schenectady JV 38-18; Freshmen lost to Bethlehem; and Modified lost to Saratoga in a tight game 21-18.

Thanks for everyone who comes out to support the teams, no matter what the weather, or no matter how far the drive!

Week 5

Week 5 rolls in with all teams seeing action.

Wednesday, September 29: Freshmen travel to Bethlehem.

Thursday, September 30: Varsity Team Meal

Thursday, September 30: Modified Columbia Gold Card Fund Raiser ends.  All monies and unsold cards need to be returned to Coach Merhige.

Thursday, September 30:  Modified travels to Saratoga for a 4:15 game.

Friday, October 1:  Varsity travels to Schenectady.  Kick off is at 7 pm.

Saturday, October 2:  JV hosts Schenectady JV.  Kick off is at 10 am.

Notes:  Buy your Top Form Raffle tickets now. $2 each or 3 for $5.  The membership is for 3 months, and valued at $349.00.  This is a great deal, and an easy fund raiser for us.

Mark your calendar: Columbia Football:  Greening the Greenbushes, for some Green, will be held on October 16 and 17.  Start gathering your metal now, for a free and easy disposal, and to earn some cash for the program.

Week 4 results

September 26th, 2010 Booster Club Comments off

Week 4 is in the books.  Varsity fell to the state ranked Troy High Team.  JV inproved their record, beating Troy JV 21-7, Freshmen beat a very good Burnt Hills team, 38-35 and Modified won their first home opener 36-6.

Jean Decker, EGTA teacher of the year was honored at the Varsity game, and the EGPW cheerleaders and Flag Football Players were the highlight of the night. The stands were packed for the game.

Thank you to Columbia Football families for making Week 4 a success!  From the CHS-EGPW clinic, to the team meals for Varsity and JV, to the support in the concession stand for 4 events in one week, to the chain gang, announcers, sellers of football items and of course attending the games, the EG community is behind the players and the coaches and keeps the team strong.

Columbia Football rolling into week 4 with a busy schedule

Monday, September 20, Modified Football Scrimmage @ Guilderland, 4:15

Monday, September 20, Varsity Football – EGPW Annual Training 6:30 with players on the field at 6:15

Wednesday, September 22, Freshman Football host Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartens at home 6:00.

Thursday, September 23, Varsity Team Meal

Friday, September 24, JV team meal, 5:15 @ the concession stand

Friday, September 24, Varsity Football Hosts Troy, with Kickoff at 7 pm

Friday, September 24, East Greenbush Pop Warner Night, all players and cheerleaders in uniform get in for free.  Half time flag show, cheerleaders cheer with the varsity.

Friday, September 24, Teacher Appreciation, All EGTA members are invited to the game, with the Teacher of the Year being the honorary captain.  Teachers receive free coffee at the concession stand.

Saturday, September 25, JV travels to Troy for a 10 am game.

Saturday, September 25, Modified hosts Sand Creek in their 10 am home opener.
